Compare the real checkout cost

A sticker price can be misleading. FairSpend can include package size, discounts, coupons, tax and fees before judging the deal.

02

Normalize unlike package sizes

Compare ounces with pounds, grams with kilograms, milliliters with liters, or different item counts on the same basis.

03

Settle groups with fewer payments

Instead of everyone paying everyone, the settlement engine matches debtors and creditors to produce a compact payment plan.

MORE USEFUL TOOLS

Make the rest of life simpler, too.

FairSpend handles what things cost and who owes what. These companion sites help with international comparisons and moving to the United States.

Questions people actually ask

Can FairSpend compare ounces with pounds or grams with kilograms?

Yes. Weight units are normalized to grams and volume units are normalized to milliliters before comparing unit prices. Item counts can be compared with other item counts.

Why can't I compare a 12-pack with 2 liters?

Those describe different kinds of quantity. FairSpend will not pretend that a count and a liquid volume are directly comparable.

How does the group settlement work?

It totals what each person paid, calculates an equal share, then matches people who owe money with people who should receive money. The result is a compact settlement plan.

Does FairSpend move or upload my expense data?

This version performs the calculations in your browser. The calculator itself does not require an account or a server-side expense database.

FairSpend provides calculation tools for general informational use. Retailer pricing, tax treatment, discounts, refunds and payment rules can differ. Verify the final checkout total or group agreement before making a financial decision.
